Acetate Esters are typically reaction products of alcohols and acetic acid.
n-Butyl acetate and isobutyl acetate are medium-volatile, colourless solvents with good solvent power for cellulose nitrate, polymers, resins and oils. Butyl acetates are well established solvents in coatings, leather, paper and chemical processing industries. They are also extensively used as an extraction solvent in the manufacture of certain antibiotics and in the recovery of phenol from waste liquors.
Isopropyl acetate is a colourless low boiling ester with a pleasant, fruity odour. It is an excellent solvent for a large range of resins and being miscible with all common organic liquids it finds extensive application in ink formulations, surface coatings, adhesives and pharmaceutical industries.
