Tetraethylene glycol is practically an odourless and non volatile hygroscopic liquid. It is characterised by two hydroxyl groups and three ether linkages. Tetraethylene glycol is a mixture containing some high and low molecular weight glycols, but consisting mainly of tetraglycol. Synonyms for tetraethylene glycol are tetraglycol, 2,2'-bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-diethylether, 2,2'-(oxybis(ethyleneoxy)) diethanol.
